Egg thrown at French Presidential Candidate Emmanuel Macron

Emmanuel Macron is very popular in the polls ahead of the French election but not everyone has positive feelings about him. At an agricultural fair in Paris, an egg was thrown at him by a passerby. His response: “It is part of French politics. It always has been part of it.”

Centrist French Presidential Candidate Emmanuel Macron is very popular in the polls but there are also consequences for being famous. Last night, an egg was thrown at his head. This incident took place when Macron visited an agricultural fair in Paris, which is a known campaign stop for presidential candidates in France.

Macron himself dismissed the incident: “We offer solutions and can speak about this. Some won’t agree. Some will even throw eggs. This is part of French politics. It always has been part of it.” However, the candidate does not support throwing eggs for it does not help to advance a political dialogue.

The attack on Macron diverted attention away from a political discussion that has emerged in France regarding Francois Fillon, the right wing political candidate. He declared that he is not retiring from the race even though an investigation has been opened against him due to a fake job scandal involving his wife. A close aide of Fillon announced that he is retiring from the campaign due to these suspicions.
