According to Google, the technology giant will now offer a questionnaire to anyone in the US who searches “depression” or “clinical depression” that will assist in diagnosing the disease.

Upon searching, users will see a “check if you're clinically depressed” box at the top of the page. The company states that the results will be completely anonymous and will allow people to easier understand their symptoms and perhaps find out if they need to seek professional help.

“We hope that by making this information available on Google,” stated CEO of the National Alliance on Mental Illness Mary Giliberti. “More people will become aware of depression and seek treatment to recover and improve their quality of life.”

As of now, Google operates a service for users seeking to find out about their medical conditions. The company presents concentrated information on possible symptoms and treatments according to the search.
