Authorities in Iran have arrested on espionage charges 12 senior officials who played key roles in negotiating the nuclear deal with world powers, an Iranian parliament member has revealed.

According to MP Hussein Ali Haji Degana, some of those who were arrested hold dual citizenships. He did not state the officials' names or say which passports they have. The state-run media has so far not addressed these serious claims.

In August, Iran confirmed it had executed nuclear scientist Shahram Amiri after he was accused of spying for the United States and revealing classified information.
