Watch: Trump announcing his stance on the Iranian regime
300 people, including Iranian experts, activists, journalists, former political prisoners and citizens, signed an open letter voicing support for U.S. President Donald Trump’s stance on the Iranian regime. The letter, which was written by the Iranian American Strategic Research Institute, was addressed to Trump and sent to the White House today (Wednesday).
“Many Iranians see eye to eye with you and your administration about the necessity of curbing the criminally-oriented ambitions and activities of the apocalyptic regime,” they wrote. “Your administration’s insistence on the necessity of thoroughly reviewing the ill-advised nuclear deal as well as designating the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) as a ‘terrorist entity’ are highly justified.”
“We greatly hope that your elegant speech constitutes the first step in a process that eventually leads to Iran’s transition from the rogue regime to a democratic government that benefits its citizen,” the open letter continued.
About two weeks ago, Trump unveiled his administration’s “new strategy to address the full range of Iran’s destructive actions.” During his speech, Trump called the regime in Tehran “radical” and noted that it has been spreading death, destruction and chaos throughout the world since 1979. “The regime’s two favorite chants are ‘Death to America’ and ‘Death to Israel,’” Trump said, adding that the nuclear deal signed with Iran was “one of the worst and most one-sided transactions the United States has ever entered into.”
“We stand in total solidarity with the Iranian regime’s longest-suffering victims: its own people,” Trump continued. “The citizens of Iran have paid a heavy price for the violence and extremism of their leaders. The Iranian people long to -- and they just are longing, to reclaim their country’s proud history, its culture, its civilization, its cooperation with its neighbors.”
