ISIS has claimed responsibility for Tuesday's deadly terror attack in Liege, Belgium, claiming that the perpetrator was "a soldier of the caliphate." However, it has offered no evidence to support that claim.

A gunman, who was identified on Wednesday as 31-year-old Benjamin Herman, shot two police officers and a bystander dead while on day release from prison. He was killed in a shootout with police after trying to take a woman hostage.

A preliminary investigation has indicated that Herman killed the officers using one of their guns after stabbing them with a knife.
