Protester replaces Dutch flag with Turkish flag at Holland’s consulate in Istanbul

The Turkish foreign affairs minister commented on the serious crisis between his country and Holland, stating that a simple apology from Amsterdam will not be enough. Meanwhile, an unidentified Turkish man climbed onto the roof of Holland’s consulate in Istanbul and replaced the Dutch flag with a Turkish flag.

According to news reports, an unidentified man climbed onto the roof of the Dutch consulate in Istanbul and replaced the Dutch flag with a Turkish flag. In the footage from the scene, the man is seen standing on the roof of the building and shouting: “Allahu Akbar.” Meanwhile, Turkish officials continue to hurl insults at Holland.  

Outside of the consulate, a group of people waving Turkish flags gathered. The consulate staff eventually took down the Turkish flag and put the Dutch flag back up.

Meanwhile, Turkish Foreign Affairs Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, who was banned from landing in the country next month for a rally, said that he is “waiting to see whether Europe will condemn the fascist action of Holland.” He added that a simple apology from Holland will not be enough.
