Watch: Eye-witnesses recall London terror attack
The authorities in the UK announced on Sunday that the London Bridge terror attack death toll has risen to seven. Dozens of others were injured by the three terrorists who attacked people visiting two of the city’s most popular attractions: the London Bridge and Borough Market.
Eye-witnesses and survivors have begun recalling the horrific killing spree of the terrorists. 24-year-old James told Sky News that he saw two heavily armed police officers taking cover behind a parked car and yelling at the bystanders to “get back” before they begin shooting at the terrorists. He said that he then heard three shots.
Lara Al-Ostta told Sky News that she saw three bodies, one of which was covered in blood, on the street. “We were at the pub, came out and we ordered an Uber,” she told Sky News. “We saw people running saying 'run, you need to run, people are getting stabbed.’”
“There are no words to describe the grief and anger that our city is feeling this morning," said London Mayor Sadiq Khan in a statement on Sunday morning. "I am appalled and furious that these twisted and cowardly terrorists deliberately targeted innocent Londoners and visitors to our city who were just enjoying their Saturday night.”
“We don't yet know the full details but this was a deliberate and cowardly attack on innocent Londoners and visitors,” Khan added. "I condemn it in the strongest possible terms. There is no justification whatsoever for such barbaric acts.”
