Melbourne: At least 14 pedestrians injured after car plows into them

Some 14 people were injured on Thursday when a car slammed into them at a crowded intersection in Melbourne, Australia. The driver has been arrested. Police announced a few hours after the incident that terrorism has been ruled out as a possible motive.

At least 14 people were injured when a car plowed into them at a busy intersection in Melbourne on Thursday. Some are in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene. According to Sky News, police have said that the driver deliberately drove his car into the crowd. Hours after the incident, police announced that terrorism has been ruled out as a possible motive.

The driver ran a red light and according to witnesses, the vehicle showed no signs of slowing down when it hit the pedestrians. The injured people were transported to local hospitals. A witness told the local radio station 3AW that the vehicle “just mowed everybody down” and that “people were flying everywhere.”
