Moscow claims that several armed drones attacked Russian bases in Syria. An attack on Khmeimim Air Base included 10 miniature drones that were armed with explosives. Another three drones attacked the Russian naval facility in Tartus, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed. Similar attacks were reportedly carried out in Homs and Lattakia.

Russia claims that three drones were successfully captured and are being examined. The Russian Defense Ministry stated that no damage or fatalities were caused by the attacks. While it is still unclear who was responsible for the strikes, the ministry has alluded to American involvement.

The United States quickly denied the allegation. “Any suggestion the US, the coalition or our partnered forces played a role in an attack on a Russian base is without any basis in fact and utterly irresponsible,” Eric Pahon, a spokesperson for the US Department of Defense, told The Independent.
