American news outlets are reporting that 1 person was killed and more than a hundred people were injured after a commuter train crashed into a terminal at the New Jersey Transit's Hoboken station today (Thursday). In addition, it was reported that several people are still trapped in the wreckage. It is currently unclear what caused the accident.

The accident occurred at around 8:30 AM (local time) during the morning commute. The pictures coming from the scene indicate that the accident caused grave damage.

According to the initial reports, the train was traveling very fast when it entered the station. It is currently unclear whether the problem was a technical malfunction.

Paul Murphy, a CNN producer, described the scene: “The main sound you hear now are sirens- sirens everywhere. There’s only one option for people who don’t have a car to get out of Hoboken right now and that’s the bus." Murphy also said that a lot of people are calling their employers, informing them that they will not be able to make it to work today.
