Nikki Haley: US willing to talk to Pyongyang if missile, nuclear tests stop

US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley announced today that if Pyongyang stops its nuclear and missile tests, her country will be prepared to talk to North Korea. She added the Russia should be “extremely concerned” due to the latest North Korean missile test.

US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley held a joint press conference on Tuesday with her Japanese and South Korean counterparts ahead of an emergency UN Security Council meeting regarding North Korea. Haley told reporters that North Korea “has become more than just a problem.” Haley added that her country, Japan and South Korea are “extremely concerned about what is coming out of North Korea these days.”  

“This has become more than just a problem,” she said. “This has become a true threat to every country in the world.” Haley then called North Korean leader Kim Jong-un “paranoid” for the second time this week.

“For peace on the Korean peninsula, he [Kim] has to stop his testing,” she continued. “He has to stop any nuclear programs that he has. The United States, we are willing to talk, but not until we see a total stop of the nuclear process and of any tests there.” Haley added the Russia should be concerned due to the most recent missile test.
