North Korea on Friday claimed that the CIA and the South Korean regime jointly tried to kill its leader, Kim Jong-un, using chemical weapons.

The regime claimed that a "terrorist group" supported by the CIA and South Korea recently managed to cross the border and used "radioactive and nano-poisonous substances" in an attempt to kill the North Korean dictator.

It threatened a "counter-terrorist attack" in retaliation for the alleged attack.

These accusations come amid growing tensions between the US and North Korea, and just hours after the House of Representatives approved a list of new sanctions against the isolated dictatorship.
