A senior North Korean diplomat told CNN that his country’s threat to carry out an atmospheric nuclear test over the Pacific Ocean should be taken literally. “North Korea has always translated its threats into deeds,” said the official.
The threat was made by the North Korean foreign minister during the United Nations General Assembly last month. “The foreign minister knows the supreme leader’s intentions very well,” stressed the official. “Therefore, I think his words should be taken literally.”
As reported earlier by JOL, the U.S. Air Force has announced that 12 F-35 stealth fighter jets and about 300 airmen will arrive in Japan by early November amid the rising tensions between Washington and Pyongyang. “This long-planned deployment is designed to demonstrate the continuing U.S. commitment to stability and security in the region,” U.S. Pacific Air Forces said in a press release.
