North Korean news agencies reported last night (Saturday) that a new type of high-thrust rocket engine has been tested. “This is an event of historic significance for the country’s space program,” said North Korean leader Kim Jong-un after the test.

North Korean news agencies described the high-thrust rocket engine trial as “revolutionary” and stated that it was carried out at the Sohae launch site. According to the reports, the new engine will improve the thrust power of the rocket and the reliability of its control systems.

“The world will soon see what great significance the victory won today carries,” stated Kim, who added that this day will be remembered as the “March 18 revolution.”
