The US military has confirmed that North Korea carried out tests on three short range missiles Friday night. At first, it was assumed that the tests failed, but several hours later the US military released another message announcing that the tests were in fact successful.

South Korea’s news agency reported that the launches were fired from the country’s east coast and the missiles fell 250 kilometers north into the ocean.

In the meantime, a US military official announced that joint South Korean and US teams are currently examining the possible implications of these tests.

These are the first missile tests carried out by North Korea since the launches last month, when the isolated state fired a long-range missile designed to reach a distance of 10,000 kilometers, a range putting several stretches of the US at risk.

These current tests follow a relative calm period in the tensions between US President Donald Trump and the North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, who threated to attack the US island territory of Guam, a threat which he later retracted.
