North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho on Monday slammed the United States and President Donald Trump in a conversation with reporters in New York. “Since the United States declared war on our country," he said, "we will have every right to make countermeasures, including the right to shoot down United States strategic bombers even when they are not inside the airspace border of our country.”

The foreign minister continued to attack the US' latest military maneuvers over North Korea's eastern shores and added that “the whole world should clearly remember it was the U.S. who first declared war on our country.”

Speaking before the UN General Assembly on Saturday, Ri said that "Mr. Evil President (Trump)" made an “irreversible mistake that will cause our missiles to visit all of the United States’ territory” when he called North Korean leader Kim Jong-un "rocket man.” He then called Trump “a crazy and power-obsessed man who controls the nuclear button.”

Trump later responded to his statement with an implicit threat via Twitter: “Just heard Foreign Minister of North Korea speak at U.N. If he echoes thoughts of Little Rocket Man, they won’t be around much longer!”
