North Korea threatens to cause US 'greatest pain' following new sanctionsAfter the newly imposed sanctions by the UN Security Council, the North Korean ambassador to the UN condemned the move and warned: “The forthcoming measures by DPRK [North Korea] will make the U.S. suffer the greatest pain it ever experienced in its history.” He also stated that Washington is "obsessed with the wild game of reversing the DPRK’s development of nuclear force."
After the UN Security Council unanimously approved more sanctions against Pyongyang last night (Monday), the North Korean ambassador to the UN warned that “the forthcoming measures by DPRK [North Korea] will make the U.S. suffer the greatest pain it ever experienced in its history.”
The government in Washington is "obsessed with the wild game of reversing the DPRK’s development of nuclear force which has already reached the completion phase," the ambassador stated, also criticizing the resolution to impose additional sanctions on his country. “My delegation condemns in the strongest terms and categorically rejects the latest illegal and unlawful U.N. Security Council resolution,” he said.
“My hope is the regime will hear the message loud and clear and it will choose a different path,” US disarmament ambassador Robert Woods said in response to North Korea’s remarks.
As reported earlier this morning by JOL, the UN Security Council approved the sanctions against North Korea last night in light of the pariah state’s sixth and most dangerous nuclear test. The aforementioned sanctions include a ban on Pyongyang’s textile export and restrictions on its oil import.
