The U.S. removed its nukes from South Korea 25 years ago. A Washington decision to return them would be the first overseas nuclear deployment since the end of the Cold War, an unprecedented and provocative step.

According to the report, the White House hopes that China will help put diplomatic pressure on North Korea. However, the U.S. is prepared to make a move if necessary.
