According to reports in Iranian news outlets on Friday, at least 50 people were arrested in Iran’s second-largest city Mashhad. Several were reportedly arrested in the capital after they did not disperse with the arrival of police officers.
As previously reported by JOL, videos that circulated on social media on Thursday showed protesters shouting anti-government slogans such as “death to the dictator” and "death to Rouhani.” Demonstrators were also seen holding signs bearing the slogans “forget Syria, think of us” and “don’t be afraid, we are all together.”
