US officials believe that the video that was aired by Iranian media last week allegedly showing the successful launch of a new missile was actually the footage of a failed missile launch seven months ago, Fox News reported yesterday.

Fox News reported Monday night that US officials have doubts about the authenticity of the footage aired by Iranian media last week reportedly showing the successful launch of a new ballistic missile. According to the report, the officials explained that the video is actually the documentation of an unsuccessful ballistic missile launch that took place seven months ago.

Last week, Iran held a large-scale military parade in Tehran, showing off a new ballistic missile with a range of 2,000 kilometers (about 1243 miles) and capable of carrying several warheads.  A day later, Iran claimed that the missile had been successfully tested and the video was broadcasted by Iranian media.

After Iran’s announcement, US President Donald Trump tweeted: “Iran just test-fired a Ballistic Missile capable of reaching Israel. They are also working with North Korea. Not much of an agreement we have!”
