Report: Trump met with Russian Ambassador during election campaign

Despite denials by the Trump administration, the Huffington Post reported that US President Donald Trump met with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the presidential election campaign.

US President Donald Trump met with the Russian Ambassador during the US presidential election campaign, the Huffington Post reported. Trump and his staff have denied that they maintained ties with Russia during the presidential election campaign.

According to the report, about a year ago, the two met in April moments before Trump’s electoral speech in Washington, DC that dealt with foreign policy issues. The US candidate arrived to the reception area within a hotel, where he met with Ambassador Kislyak and other foreign officials. The report claims that the duration of the meeting and its significance are unclear.

A White House spokesman stated in response to the report that Trump stayed in the reception area for about 5 minutes and then went immediately to the podium. The White House claims that they don’t remember whom Trump shook hands with in the lobby and are not responsible for who the guests were.
