U.S. President Donald Trump has decided to pull out of the Paris Agreement on climate change, according to the Axios news website, which cited two U.S. officials “with direct knowledge of the decision.” A few days ago, Trump refused to ratify the agreement during the G7 summit in Italy.

No source from Trump’s administration or the White House has confirmed this report. The significance of the decision is that the U.S. will withdraw from the international agreement that marked the biggest development in the worldwide fight against global warming. The 2015 agreement stated that the countries that signed it will work to limit global warming and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. If the report is accurate, America will join Syria and Nicaragua, the only two countries that have declared that they do not support the agreement.
