Russia claims ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi may be eliminated

Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu claimed a Russian air strike hit a meeting of ISIS leaders, including Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, in Syria last month. The information is being verified.

Today (Friday), Russia’s Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu claimed that Russian Air Force pilots may have succeeded in eliminating ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

According to Shoygu, the Russians attacked a meeting of ISIS leaders in the terrorist organization’s capital of Raqqa, Syria, last month. They are attempting to verify the information.

This is not the first time the al-Baghdadi’s death has been reported. In January, he was reported to be seriously injured. In June 2016, it was reported that he was eliminated in a US-led airstrike.
