Scotland will request to hold another referendum on Scottish independence from the UK before the Brexit negotiations come to an end. During a special press conference on Monday, Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced her intention to ask permission to hold the second referendum.
Sturgeon said that the second referendum regarding the matter will be held at the end of 2018 or the beginning of 2019, when the conditions of Britain’s exit from the EU become clearer.

In response to Sturgeon’s announcement, British Prime Minister Theresa May stated: “The majority of the Scottish people do not want a second independence referendum.” In addition, May called on the Scottish government to “focus on delivering good government and public services for the people of Scotland.”
