South Korea is using the loudspeakers in the Demilitarized Zone to broadcast updates about the North Korean soldier who defected to the South almost two weeks ago. According to South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency, military officials stated on Sunday that the South Korean military is blasting the updates on the defector’s health.

The 24-year-old defector, who was shot multiple times during his daring escape, was rushed to the hospital once he crossed into South Korean territory. After his successful escape, North Korea reportedly fortified part of its southern border.

Last week, footage of the defector’s escape was released by the UN. The video shows the soldier driving a military jeep toward the border, then exiting it and making a sprint for freedom.
