Drinking 2-3 cups of coffee a day could help you live longer, study showsMost research studies about our favorite foods and drinks warn us to stay away from them but a new study found a direct correlation between coffee drinking and a reduced risk of dying prematurely.
A 16-year research study that included more than half a million participants worldwide found that men who drank two or three cups of coffee a day reduced their chances of dying prematurely by 18%. Even those who drank only one cup a day lowered their chances by 12%.
The study showed that the type of coffee was irrelevant. Cappuccino, iced coffee, regular and decaf drinkers all showed the same results. The study showed a direct connection between coffee drinking and a lowered risk of heart disease, stroke and liver disease.
Coffee is considered one of the most controversial drinks in the world. While some doctors recommend avoiding coffee altogether, others recommend reducing the consumption of the popular drink. However, in recent years, several studies have suggested that drinking coffee actually improves a person’s health and can help prevent diseases such as Alzheimer’s.
However, it is important to remember that coffee drinking comes with side effects like restlessness and increased gastric acid. Therefore, experts still recommend that avid coffee fans limit their daily consumption to five cups.
