Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu announced today (Tuesday) that the Russian Air Force has launched an extensive attack on Idlib and Homs with the assistance of the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier.

During a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Shoygu talked about the widespread attack. According to Shoygu, the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier, which recently reached the waters near the Syrian shore, played an active part in the aerial attacks on the rebel forces in the two cities.

Shoygu added that the Russia fighter jets targeted weapon arsenals, training camps and ammunition factories belonging to the rebel forces.

Russia’s announcement comes just as international human rights organizations reported that the Russian Air Force resumed its attacks on east Aleppo. Shoygu did not comment on these reports, which contradict the Kremlin’s claims that the attacks on the destroyed city were suspended three weeks ago until further notice.
