Thousands of GBP raised for homeless man who can’t be foundChris Parker, a 33-year-old homeless man, was panhandling outside of the Manchester Arena when a suicide bomber blew himself up last week. Chris Parker, a 33-year-old homeless man, was panhandling outside of the Manchester Arena when a suicide bomber blew himself up last week, murdering 22 people. He was pushed onto the ground by the strong blast but quickly picked himself up and ran into the arena in order to assist the wounded.
A day after the attack, 25-year-old Michael Jones launched a GoFundMe page in order to raise money for Parker so that he would not have to live on the street anymore. So far, the crowdfunding page has raised over 50,000 GBP for Parker. However, Jones recently revealed that he is having trouble locating the hero in order to give him the money.
“The problem we’re now having is he’s not saying where he’s going to be, he’s not turning up at the places he’s saying he’s going to be,” Jones explained to BuzzFeed. “And I’m trying to organize all this from the other end of the country.” More than 3,500 donations were made to the campaign for Parker.
On Tuesday, Marissa Lowe spotted Parker on the street and stopped to talk with him. She was confused because he still appeared to be homeless despite all the money that was raised for him. “I gave him all the money I had in my purse as I think he more than deserves it,” she wrote in a Facebook post, which has since been deleted. “However, he told me one thing, HE IS STILL HOMELESS.”
