Despite the criticism from Moscow, U.S. President Donald Trump told Congress on Saturday night that America is prepared to take further military action in Syria if necessary.

In a letter addressed to House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senator Orrin Hatch, Trump explained his decision to launch a missile strike targeting a Syrian airbase: “I acted in the vital national security and foreign policy interests of the United States.” Trump clarified that he acted in accordance with his “constitutional authority to conduct foreign relations and as Commander in Chief and Chief Executive.”

Tillerson, who is preparing for his Moscow visit, has asked UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson to lobby the G7 nations in order to ensure that the bloc of countries has a fierce statement regarding Russia’s involvement in Syria. Yesterday evening, Tillerson spoke with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov about the situation in the Arab country.
