Reports: Deadly shooting in Orlando
Trump accuses Khan of surrendering to political correctnessLondon Mayor Sadiq Khan attempted to calm the city’s residents by reassuring them that there is no need to worry about the fact that there is an increased presence of security forces throughout the city in response to the terror attack. However, US President Donald Trump accused him of surrendering to political correctness claiming that Khan had stated that there is “no reason to be alarmed” from a terror attack.
After slamming the US Justice Department yesterday (Monday) and calling to “stop being politically correct,” US President Donald Trump continued on with his Twitter attacks. “Pathetic excuse by London Mayor Sadiq Khan who had to think fast on his ‘no reason to be alarmed’ statement,” Trump wrote claiming that this was Khan’s response to Saturday’s terror attack. The only issue is that Khan never actually stated that there is no reason to fear terror attacks.
After the last terror attack in London, Khan said that residents will notice an increased presence of security forces throughout the city and that this should not worry them. Shortly afterwards, Trump tweeted that this statement was in response to the terror attack: “At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in a terror attack and Mayor of London says there is ‘no reason to be alarmed!’”

When Khan repeated his original remarks, he emphasized that this was not what he intended. As previously stated, Trump responded by calling this a “pathetic excuse.” In an official statement, the mayor’s spokesperson wrote that Khan “has more important things to do than respond to Donald Trump’s ill-informed tweet that deliberately takes out of context” his remarks.
