Trump: “I'm totally giving up my salary if I become president”President-elect Donald Trump announced during his election campaign that he “won’t take even one dollar” for his salary as president. The American President’s annual salary is 400 thousand dollars and previously wealthy presidents would donate their salary to charity.
Donald Trump announced during his campaign that he will not accept a salary if he becomes president. In an election rally in New Hampshire last September Trump said to his supporters “the first thing I'm going to do is tell you that if I'm elected president, I'm accepting no salary, OK? That's no big deal for me."
Considering the fact that the annual salary of the US President stands at 400 thousand dollars, it is interesting to see if Trump keeps his promise. On the other hand, throughout his campaign Trump mentioned that he does not need funding because he has enough money. Indeed, Forbes magazine estimated Trump’s fortune at approximately 3.7 billion dollars.
