US President Donald Trump accused the Asian-Pacific region of “violations, cheating” and “economic aggression” during a heated speech at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Da Nang, Vietnam, on Friday. He is in the region as part of a five-nation tour of Asia.

"I am always going to put America first, the same way I expect all of you in this room to put your countries first,” said Trump, who claimed the US has opened its economy with few conditions, but has been repeatedly cheated. “While we lowered market barriers, other countries didn’t open their markets to us.”

Trump emphasized that he does not think the people are taking advantage of the US, but that the fault lays with the leaders. He listed a number of accusations against the region, including "product dumping, subsidized goods, currency manipulation and predatory industrial policies," and added: "We are not going to let the United States be taken advantage of anymore.”
