Putin, Trump will attempt to repair countries’ ties

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he has already spoken with the US president-elect about repairing the ties between the two countries. In addition, Putin talked with US President Barack Obama on the sidelines of the economic summit underway in Peru.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said last night (Sunday) that US President-elect Donald Trump spoke with him and said that he wants to normalize the relations between the two countries. Putin responded by saying that he is also interested in repairing the countries’ relations with each other.

“President-elect Trump confirmed that he is ready to normalize the relationship between the US and Russia,” said Putin at the economic summit underway in Peru. “I agreed but we didn’t discuss when and where we will meet.”

Putin added that he met with US President Barack Obama on the sidelines of the summit and thanked him for the years of cooperation. “I told him that I would be happy to see him in Russia whenever he comes,” stated Putin. However, Putin admitted that there was relatively more tension recently between the two countries.

According to the reports, the talk between Putin and Obama was short, lasting only four minutes. During this time, the two mainly discussed the situation in Syria and Ukraine.
