Trump says he’s not worried about Flynn’s guilty pleaUS President Donald Trump made his first remarks on Saturday about his former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn’s guilty plea, saying that he is not worried about the development. He added that there was “absolutely no collusion” between his campaign team and Russia.
When US President Donald Trump was asked on Saturday by White House correspondents whether he is worried about his former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn’s guilty plea, he said: “No, I am not.” Trump added that there was “absolutely no collusion” between his campaign team and Russia. However, it appears that the concerns in the US that Flynn’s testimony could harm Trump and his inner circle are becoming more realistic.
Earlier today, JOL News reported that US media outlets are claiming that Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner was the “very senior” member of the transition team who instructed Flynn to contact Russian officials about a UN Security Council vote concerning Israeli settlements. Kushner told Flynn to try to get the Russians to delay or cancel the December 2016 vote on Resolution 2334, which determined that Israeli settlements in the West Bank are illegal. The US administration abstained from the vote.
On Friday, Flynn pleaded guilty to one count of knowingly making false statements to the FBI, an offense that carries a penalty of up to five years in prison. Flynn resigned from Trump’s administration in February after it was discovered that he had misled US Vice President Mike Pence regarding his meetings and communications with then-Russian Ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak.
