US President Donald Trump, speaking at the UN General Assembly on Tuesday for the first time, opened his speech with a patriotic sentiment: “As president of the United States," he said, "I will always put America first." He praised the US for being a 'compassionate nation' and for seeking out 'harmony and friendship' instead of 'conflict and strife.'

Fourteen minutes into his speech, Trump addressed the North Korean threat: “Rocket Man is on a suicide mission for him and his regime,” he said, referring to Kim Jong-Un. “If [the US is] forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea.”

Trump also slammed Iran, and the nuclear deal he has called "one of the worst and most one-sided transactions" in the past. "We cannot let a murderous regime continue these destabilizing activities while building dangerous missiles." The nuclear deal, he said, led by former US president Barack Obama in 2015, is “an embarrassment to the United States.”

Trump continued to praise the US' allies in the Middle East and proudly announced that “our country has achieved more against Isis in the last eight months” than ever before. He also thanked Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan for taking in refugees from the fighting in the Middle East.

To conclude, Trump called for 'a great reawakening of nations;' "we need to defeat the enemies of humanity," he said, "and unlock the potential of life itself."

Noticably missing from his speech was any mention of climate change, human rights violations in Syria and the humanitarian crisis in Myanmar.
