During the debate in St. Louis, Republican Nominee Donald Trump repelled the accusations about sexual offenses. He continued to attack Democratic Nominee Hillary Clinton in regards to her recent events such as the content that was exposed from her hacked emails. Trump stated that if he were elected, he would assign a special prosecutor to deal with Clinton's affairs. "If I win, I am going to instruct my attorney general to get a special prosecutor to look into your situation because there has [sic] been so many lies," he said to Clinton.

When Clinton said to Trump that, "It's just awfully good that someone with the temperament of Donald Trump is not in charge of the law in our country," Trump answered, "Because you'd be in jail."

Clinton didn't stand down and responded, "It was a mistake and I take responsibility for using a personal email account." She added that the accusations are misleading since there is no evidence indicating that there was an actual hack or that classified materials reached the wrong hands. In response, Trump claimed that Clinton is a liar and also complained to the hosts that they are not asking her about the emails.

In the beginning of the debate, the two entered the auditorium and avoided shaking hands. When Trump was asked about the recent recording of him speaking offensively about women, he answered: "I have great respect for women. Nobody has more respect for women than I do." He added, "I was embarrassed by it but I have tremendous respect for women."

Clinton also responded to the things Trump said on the recording: "I've spent a lot of time thinking over the last 48 hours about what we heard and saw. With prior Republican nominees for president is disagrees with them on politics, policies and principles but I never questioned their fitness to serve. Donald Trump is different."
