US President Donald Trump will donate $1 million of his personal fortune to recovery efforts in Texas, the White House said Friday.

"He would like to join in the efforts that a lot of people we have seen across the country do," White House press secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters, adding that Trump has yet to decide which organization would receive the donation.

In addition, a senior White House official has told EP that Trump's administration is working on a $5.9 billion aid package for Hurricane Harvey survivors. Congress is expected to vote on it no later than next week.

More than 30,000 residents of Texas have been evacuated to safety shelters, with thousands still waiting to be rescued after floods caused 30,000 gallons of crude oil to spill. The overall property damage is estimated at $23 billion, though experts say it is expected to be twice or even three times as much.
