Following the death of Cuba's long-standing ruler Fidel Castro, US President-elect Donald J. Trump threatened one of President Barack Obama's biggest achievements: the historic US-Cuba agreement that reopened the relations between the countries.

Trump tweeted, "If Cuba is unwilling to make a better deal for the Cuban people, the Cuban/American people and the U.S. as a whole, I will terminate [the] deal."

The US-Cuba deal led to the reopening of the two countries’ relations with each other and removed Washington's sanctions on Havana. The agreement led to the opening of the Cuban Embassy in Washington and the American Embassy in Havana. Obama even visited the country and became the first American president to do so since 1928.
