Trump to ban transgender people from serving in US militaryThe US President launched a new Twitter attack on the transgender community. According to him, their integration into the armed forces would disrupt the military and would distract the aim for victory. However, during his presidential campaign, Trump promised to fight for LGBT rights.
The day after his series of angry tweets against US Attorney General Jeff Sessions, US President Donald Trump launched a new Twitter attack today (Wednesday) against transgender people serving in the US military. According to Trump, after examining the matter, he decided that there is no room whatsoever for the integration of people belonging to the transgender community within the US military.
“After consultation with my generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the US military,” Trump tweeted. “Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail.”

In response to the harsh remarks against the transgender community, The Atlantic Editor in Chief Jeffrey Goldberg shared a tweet that Trump wrote in 2016, in which he promised the entire LGBT community that he would fight for their rights. “Thank you to the LGBT community! I will fight for you while Hillary brings in more people that will threaten your freedoms and beliefs,” read the tweet.
