The US House of Representatives on Thursday voted nearly unanimously to impose new sanctions on Iran for its development of ballistic missiles.

The new legislation, passed by an overwhelming majority of 423-2, will require the Trump administration to report to Congress about Iran's ballistic missile program and to identify companies and individuals helping it, both from inside and outside of Iran.

The vote comes two weeks after US President Donald Trump's decision to decertify the Iranian nuclear deal, as part of Washington's efforts to toughen its policy toward Iran without undermining the agreement.

Also on Thursday, the US Treasury Department issued new sanctions on several entities and individuals in North Korea for human rights violations.

"Today's sanctions target the North Korean military and regime officials engaged in flagrant abuses of human rights," said Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who is visiting Israel. "We also are targeting North Korean financial facilitators who attempt to keep the regime afloat with foreign currency earned through forced labor operations."
