According to ABC News, US Attorney General Jeff Sessions offered to resign due to his tensions with US President Donald Trump. The dispute between the two started when Sessions recused himself from dealing with the Russia investigation, a decision which disappointed Trump.

According to sources close to the president, Trump has still not forgiven Session for his decision, of which he was only made aware minutes before Sessions’ public announcement. The Attorney General’s decision was made following his testimony in the Senate claiming that he did not meet with senior Russian officials during the election campaign, a statement which later turned out to be false.
