Yesterday evening (Tuesday), a one of a kind test was conducted on the US’s long range ballistic missile defense system. Apparently, the US army simulated a situation of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) launch, similar to the missiles being developed by North Korea.

The US Army stated that the ballistic missile was successfully intercepted and according to witnesses, the test was conducted in California. “The intercept of a complex, threat-representative ICBM target is an incredible accomplishment for the GMD [Ground-based Missile Defense] system and a critical milestone for this program,” stated US Missile Defense Agency director Vice Admiral James Syring in a short message. “This system is vitally important to the defense of our homeland and this test demonstrates that we have a capable, credible deterrent against a very real threat.”
