Today (Wednesday), US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley addressed the rising tensions with North Korea following the country’s ballistic missile launches from yesterday and earlier this month. “All options are on the table,” Haley asserted.

Over the past few days, a joint US-South Korean military exercise was conducted on the Chinese coast, a maneuver that worsened tensions in the region. “The two countries are on their way to a confrontation,” stated the Chinese Foreign Affairs Minister today. “Both sides are like trains speeding past one another.”

According to US government officials, China offered to mediate an agreement that would lower tensions between the US and North Korea. According to the agreement, the US would halt its joint exercise with South Korea while North Korea would halt its ballistic missile launches.

“We have to see some sort of positive action taken by North Korea before we can ever take them seriously,” stated Haley in response to the proposed agreement.
