Yesterday (Tuesday), US President Donald Trump fired Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) James Comey. According to White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, Trump no longer believes that he is capable of leading the bureau and the search for his replacement has already began.

“President Trump acted based on the clear recommendations of both Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and Attorney General Jeff Sessions,” Spicer stated. “A search for a new permanent FBI Director will begin immediately.”

Over the past several months, Comey was leading a probe into the allegations of possible links between Trump's election headquarters and the Russian government during the US presidential election. Yesterday, the FBI sent the US Senate a letter clarifying Comey’s testimony regarding Hilary Clinton’s e-mail affair. The bureau clarified that Comey overstated the number of e-mails that were found on former Congressman Anthony Weiner’s laptop.
