Yesterday (Thursday), an 18-year-old woman was killed and 23 others were injured in what was originally suspected of being a terrorist attack but was later defined as an accident in New York City’s Times Square.

The driver, Richard Rojas, a 26-year-old Navy veteran from the Bronx, is still under investigation. The New York City Police Department reported that although Rojas served in the US Navy, he has a criminal record. Investigators are still examining whether or not the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The dozens of CCTV cameras in Times Square documented the tragic incident. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said at a press conference: “Based on information we have at this moment, there is no indication that this was an act of terrorism.” However, he added that the city has been placed on high alert.

In the above video, Rojas’ red Honda can be seen making a U-turn onto the sidewalk driving against traffic, hitting pedestrians for blocks.
