Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in order to watch the 2016 Red Bull Cliff World Series, which began yesterday (Saturday) at the historic Stari Most bridge in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Male Czech diver Michal Navrátil and female Canadian diver Lysanne Richard both won first place.
Navrátil won first place in the competition that was conducted two weeks ago in Wales. Navrátil is currently ranked in third place for the season but has two more dives to complete in Japan and the United Arab Emirates. British diver Gary Hun, who is the reigning champion, came in second place in yesterday’s dive.
In the women’s competition, Richard also surprised the fans who came to watch the divers. “I expected a good jump,” explained Richard. “I didn’t think that first place was an option but I wanted to be on the podium. I finally had some luck and I’m really happy about this.” Richard defeated American Cesilie Carlton and the reigning champion.
