Watch: Huge fire in 27-floor residential tower in London

A fire erupted in a 27-floor residential tower in London. Over 200 firefighters were summoned to the scene and began evacuating residents. Authorities fear that some people are trapped inside. At least 30 people were injured.

This morning (Wednesday), a giant fire erupted in a 27-floor residential tower in west London. According to local police, the residents were evacuated from the burning building. Several people were in need of medical treatment and 2 people were injured after inhaling smoke. The reason of the fire is still unknown.

40 fire trucks and 200 firefighters were sent to battle the flames. According to the medical services, 20 ambulances were sent to the scene. 30 people have been taken to the hospital, but the final number of injuries is expected to be much higher.

"This is a large and very serious incident and we have deployed numerous resources and specialist appliances,” stated London Fire Brigade assistant commissioner Dan Daly. He added that dozens of firefighters are spread throughout the tower in an attempt to locate residents who have not yet been evacuated. According to local media outlets, the tower has several trapped residents who can be heard yelling for help from the windows of the upper floors.
