In an impromptu demonstration of anger, a paper US flag and a piece of paper representing the 2015 nuclear deal were set on fire by members of Iran's Parliament hours after US President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw the US from the agreement. The MPs also shouted “Death to America” during a parliamentary session on Wednesday,

Iran's parliamentary speaker Ali Larijani said Trump’s announcement was only a diplomatic show and warned that Iran is no longer restricted by the agreement due to the American withdrawal.

Speaking to his fellow lawmakers, Larijani said that the US leader “lacks the mental capacity” to deal with the nuclear deal matter. “The UN and the UNSC approved the agreement,” he said while meeting with Brazilian officials in Iran’s capital. “But the Americans have been implementing faulty policies since the first day—under both the Obama administration and the Trump administration.”

Larijani also claimed that Trumps is “a hypocrite” as the US itself holds a large arsenal of nuclear bombs and warheads.

Trump announced on Tuesday his country's withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), signed in 2015 between Iran and six world powers, dealing a heavy blow to the legacy of his predecessor, Barack Obama.
