President-elect Donald Trump has continued to make headlines as he announces appointments for positions within his administration. However, today, the headlines included his wife, Melania Trump. According to US media outlets, Melania and the couple’s son, Barron, will not be moving into the White House after the inauguration in January.
Based on the reports, moving to the nation’s capital would not allow Barron to continue studying at his private school in New York and due to this, he and his mother plan to stay in the Big Apple.

“Melania is extremely close to Barron and they have become closer during the campaign,” said a source close to Trump's transition team to the New York Post. “The campaign has been difficult for Barron and she is really hoping to keep disruption to a minimum.” However, it is possible that the two will move to the White House at the end of the school year.
Another source stated that Melania will visit the White House as needed: “Melania is very supportive of her husband and is fully on board of doing everything that’s needed as first lady." However, the source added that she is devoted to her son and prefers to not rely on outside help for his care.
This decision holds great implications regarding the security for Trump Tower in Manhattan. The NYPD and Secret Service will have to work together to drastically increase security presence around the building.
Jim Reese, president of TigerSwan, a global security company based in North Carolina told the New York Post, "That building is going to become the White House of New York."
