World leaders to attend Peres’ funeral
Barbra Streisand, Paula Abdul say goodbye to PeresAll over the world, celebrities and important figures in the business world and high-tech industry parted from Israel’s 9th President, who passed away early this morning.
Many well-known people in the international entertainment industry and important figures in the business world sent their condolences to the family of Shimon Peres today (Wednesday). Barbra Streisand, Paula Abdul and Apple CEO Tim Cook are just some of the people who tweeted about Peres’ passing.
Actress Sharon Stone uploaded a picture of herself and Israel’s 9th President to her Twitter account and wrote: “Godspeed my friend.” Streisand, who attended Peres’ 90th birthday celebration, wrote: “President Shimon Peres was a voice of reason who also happened to have the sensibility of a poet…thoughtful and soft-spoken but his words echoed loudly around the world.”

Abdul wrote on her Twitter page: “Shimon Peres' warmth and kindness moves my heart to this day. To his family I send my most heartfelt condolences. My heart aches for you all.”
In addition, many journalists who met Peres parted from the former president and prime minister. CNN’s Richard Quest quoted Peres and wrote on his Twitter page: “‘You're only old when your ambitions are greater than your dreams.’”
In recent years, Peres was a big name in the high-tech industry and business world. “Condolences to the people of Israel on the passing of Shimon Peres, a true visionary whose efforts for peace will never be forgotten,” wrote Apple CEO Tim Cook.
